What an awesome way to end the month of March 2017!  We're very excited to have hosted our first ever Gunpla build off competition in collaboration with GundamModels.AE and honored to have, Gunpla Builders World Cup 2012 Champion, Edy Ng to be our VIP judge for the event!  When we first announced the event to the community, the entrants only had a mere three months to complete their builds so we expected the entries to be limited in numbers.  We were very pleasantly surprised that the tight schedule did not deter people from participating!  It was heart warming to see the enthusiasm in people's eyes and their excitement to take part in the first of our ongoing series of competitions.  One after the other, awesome creative works from all three categories of Clean Build, Rising Star, and Open Course started to come in.

We had a simple store set up in the corner with the latest model kits and a selection of hobby tools and materials on offer!

The event was not limited to the competition but also featured a range of workshops that demonstrated building techniques by professionals, sharing knowledge and skill to help everyone improve.

Another well received activity was our kit bash event that paired beginner modelers from the Clean Build category with more experienced ones from Rising Star and Open Course with the task of kit bashing two HG kits provided by Otaku ME on the spot!  It was a great chance to share know-how and develop skill in budding modelers.  The resulting models were amazing!

Yet another activity was the Gundam trivia event where participants did their best to answer a range of tricky questions from the world of Gundam while the crowd cheered them on.  There were prize kits awarded to the winners of each of the three trivia sessions held.Judging by the reaction from the crowd, this will be a feature in all our future competitions!

A short message from us:

Regardless of grade, scale, or even skill, it was truly incredible seeing the sheer joy, emotion, dedication, imagination and spirit of the hobby that the Gunpla community showed at our first competition.  Thank you very much for making this experience possible and we honestly couldn't have done it without the support we've had from the community.  Otaku ME remains inspired and fueled by you, the passionate and devoted community.  Keep building!
