MEFCC 2019 Throwback

The Middle East Film and Comic Con 2019 was a huge success for all the amazing fans and supporters of Pop Culture in the UAE. It was a whirlwind of experiences and we are very happy to be a part of it.

Last April 11 - 13, MEFCC opened its doors to the thousands of fans wanting to express and celebrate their love for Movies, Comic Books, Video Games, and Anime. From the moment the doors were opened to the public during the first day, you can feel an electric atmosphere that can only be felt in events like these. Seeing all the cosplayers taking on a persona, expressing themselves and giving life to their favorite characters were a sight to behold. Some lucky fans got to meet and take pictures with their favorite celebrities.

Otaku ME was situated right in the middle of this beautiful chaos and everyone we’re gleaming with anticipation in spreading the love we all share for this hobby.

Otaku ME brought hundreds of Gundam model kits including Premium items like the Master Grade Seven Sword Trans Am Special Coating Edition, Master Grade Tallgeese I Special Coating Edition and the Real Grade Blue Frame Astray Plated Version all on a whopping 30% discount.

Veteran scale modelers were in awe with the number of scale model kits that we brought.

A few of our military model kit highlights is the Messerschmitt Bf109 G-6 and Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I from Tamiya, both awarded with Model of the Year at Nuremberg Toy Fair 2018 for their excellent design and details. When it came to tanks, old and new modelers alike could not help but be amazed by the details of the Howitzer M109A6 Paladin from Tamiya.

Otaku ME we’re not just there to sell but to bring the experience to the fans. For only 10 AED, every guest got to build their own Gundam SD kit at our Build Experience booth for 45 minutes. Our experienced staff was there to teach and guide them from start to finish.

The best part they got to keep the kit whether if they finished it or not.

While all of this is going on our own master builders are working on two massive Gundam kits, the Perfect Grade Gundam 00 Seven Sword/G and the Master Grade Psycho Zaku Ver. Ka which we managed to complete within the three days of the convention.

For the Tamiya Mini 4WD fans, Otaku ME built a challenging 3 lane track where they can challenge each other in regular races throughout the day. There would be a race every hour where 9 lucky participants got to battle it out with other racers and the top 3 got to take home their own Tamiya Mini 4WD cars.

Fans of One Piece, Dragon Ball, and all other anime we’re not disappointed with our collections. Otaku ME brought the full arsenal of One Piece ship figures like the Thousand Sunny, Going Merry, Red Force, Marshall D. Teach pirate ship.

For those who have dreamt of collecting all seven Dragon Balls when they were a kid, relived all of the adventures of the Z Fighters with our amazing collection of Figure-rise characters including Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, Krillin and many more.

All in all, this year’s Comic-Con was an incredible success. One can clearly see the rapid spread of Pop Culture in the region and how much people appreciate it. We are expecting a bigger and better Comic Con 2020 and as such, we at Otaku ME have some even bigger things and surprises planned for next year.
