HG 1/144 Gundam Ez8 review
Posted on
Pros:
- The build is simple and easy. a good choice for beginner builders or those who want to get into Gunpla.
- The aesthetic design of the model kit is really good. The mobile suits main colours are on point. the 81 number on the chest is molded into the piece, and a sticker sheet is provided.
- Considering this is a cheap, and simple model kit. It can be considered by some builders who want to get into painting their model kits and looking for an affordable and simple kit for there first attempts.
- The assembled Gundam Ez8 looks good considering the age of this kit. it has some unique features as the feet guards, and knee guards that can be moved as you articulate the feet or bend the knees. The chest piece can extend toward the outside revealing some inner details. The hatch can be removed revealing the cockpit which has a seat. a really nice touch and attention to details. The backpack (which is supposed to open a parachute as in the anime) is attached to the back of the model kit and then the belts have to grab into the shoulder pieces (the provided belts are better than the ones provided with the 1/144 Ez8 revive version).
- Articulation wise, the head goes around with no issues, moves upward very nicely, but its downward movement is very limited. the shoulders, and arms rotate around with no issues, arms bends for 90 degrees, and moves to the sides around the same angle. the front skirts goes upward giving the legs more forward and upward range movement. the legs goes forward slightly below 90 degrees. the backward movement is limited to few degrees. knees bends around 90 degree. the feet articulation and movement are really good and smooth.
- Accessory wise the model kit comes with a shield, parachute backpack, 2 beam sabers ( not colored), a rifle, set of exchangeable hands, and a tiny plain model for Shiro Amada the pilot of Gundam Ez8.
Cons:
- The head requires paint, and panel lining for accuracy purposes (head panel lining, and painting the signal piece on the head as it should be in black).
- Very limited waist movement.
- Beam sabers require painting.
- The rifle feels kind of loose in hand, but it won't fall off.
Overall, The HG 1/144 Gundam Ez8 is a relly solid and a very good model kit considering its age. it has very good and detailed gimmicks, good articulation, and good number of provided accessories. I really do recommend this kit for those who want to start applying paint to their model kits and the fans of Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team anime.
